Acting Director, Division of Shortage Designation, Bureau of Health Workforce/HRSA

Melissa Ryan is the Operations Director of the Division of Policy and Shortage Designation in the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Bureau of Health Workforce. In addition to working on health workforce programs such as shortage designation and the National Health Service Corps, Melissa has also worked in the HIV/AIDS Bureau, Bureau of Primary Health Care, Federal Office of Rural Health Policy, and Office of Performance Review since joining HRSA in 2006. Prior to joining HRSA, she served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in South Africa, did evaluation work for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and worked for the State of Maine’s HIV Program. Melissa earned her BS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and her MPH from Tulane University.
