Howard Chapman

Director, Programs and Development, Tri-Area Community Health

Howard Chapman has over 39 years of experience in health care management in rural community health centers in Virginia. He has served as Director of Programs and Development for Tri-Area Community Health (since 2011) with the primary responsibilities of grant writing and reporting, plus program development. Previously, Howard was Finance Manager for Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems in Saltville, Virginia (1980-1983) and Executive Director (1983-2011), supervising its overall operation. In areas of high need and few resources, his focus is on collaboration to serve more people. He has promoted telemedicine for over 18 years in rural Southwest Virginia and has served on the Executive Committee of the Virginia Telehealth Network (VTN) Board for the past 10 years. Howard served on the Technology Task Force (2010-2011) for Governor McDonnell’s Virginia Health Reform Initiative, and holds a BA in Business Administration from King University.
