Health Policy Advisor, Office of U.S. Senator Brian Schatz, U.S. Senate

Gabrielle Schechter is the health policy advisor for U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (D-HI). In this role, she leads Senator Schatz’s health policy portfolio, advances his legislative agenda on telehealth and other health care priorities, and manages his work as a member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies. From 2015-2021, she served in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Gabrielle led primary care and accountable care organization policy and programs at the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, including Comprehensive Primary Care Plus (CPC+), Primary Care First, and the Direct Contracting model. In 2021, she managed the care and placement of unaccompanied children at the Office of Refugee Resettlement in the Administration for Children and Families. Gabrielle has a master of public health from Harvard School of Public Health and a B.S. in international health from Georgetown University.
