Community Health Centers were born in the struggles against racism and injustice. And yet, systemic racism is still a central cause of many of the health disparities and inequities experienced by our patients and our communities. Health Centers around the country are prioritizing strategies to dismantle systemic and structural racism. In this session, panelists will share how they have transformed their own experiences of racism, bias, or injustice into actual systemic and/or institutional change. Time will be provided for discussion and an opportunity for audience members to share how their lived experiences have inspired tangible institutional and/or systemic change.

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will learn about how the health center movement began and where it is today.
  • Participants will be able to identify the central cause of health disparities.
  • Participants will learn about real life examples on how to make institutional change in dealing with racism impact on health care.
