A changing and increasingly complex healthcare environment presents many challenges for health center governing boards. To be effective, board members must be fully knowledgeable about their roles and responsibilities and the many issues their health centers face as healthcare businesses. This session covers the nuts and bolts of the board’s legally mandated fiduciary responsibilities, including: federal regulations; statutes and policies impacting the health center; the board’s legal liability and financial responsibility in connection with its decision-making role; and staff/board relationships and roles.
