Evidence in Practice: Health Centers as Learning Health Systems

Date
August 27, 2018

As health centers are faced with redesigning the delivery of primary care services, they will need to contemplate the adoption of new technologies and utilize a robust data and analytics system to monitor and evaluate their outcomes. The Learning Healthcare System is a model that leverages continuous quality improvement, opportunities for research, and dissemination of evidence-based practice. It emphasizes approaches utilizing health information technology (HIT) to drive higher quality and more efficient, evidence-based clinical practice and patient care. This session will engage participants in thoughtful consideration of the development of innovative HIT approaches to practice transformation and how to frame HIT in the context of a learning health system. It will also cover methods to evaluate and select innovative technologies using the Jobs to Be Done theory, a complement to the Disruptive Innovation model, to assist with selecting and implementing HIT in the primary care setting.
