Carolyn Wester MD, MPH

Director, Division of Viral Hepatitis National Center for HIV,, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Dr. Wester joined the CDC Division of Viral Hepatitis (DVH) as its permanent Director on January 22, 2019. Prior to joining DVH, she served as the Medical Director for HIV, STDs, and Viral Hepatitis for the Tennessee Department of Health, a position she held since 2008. Dr. Wester has conducted clinical research, including prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV trials in Botswana, and authored a myriad of articles. She received her medical degree from Dartmouth Geisel School of Medicine, and a Master of Public Health from Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
