Faiyaz Syed MD, MPH

Dr. Faiyaz Syed is the Chief Medical Officer for the Michigan Primary Care Association (MPCA). In this role, he utilizes the requisite clinical experience and public health education to rely on, plan and accomplish the programmatic goals of MPCA. He also directs Michigan Quality Improvement Network (MQIN) - the Health Center Controlled Network for Michigan, a program assisting Health Centers to achieve Quality Improvement enabled by Health Information Technology. Some of Dr. Syed’s focus areas include optimizing provider time with patients by maximizing the use of EHRs at FQHCs and participation in Value-Based Care activities, such as Population Health Management, SDOH, Data Analytics and Risk Stratification.

Before joining MPCA, Dr. Syed gained multiple years of experience as a practicing physician. He is a strong advocate for public health policies and procedures in the fight against chronic diseases. He is the current Co-chair of NACHC’s HCCN Taskforce. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Michigan Health Information Network (MiHIN), the state-designated Health Information Exchange (HIE) entity and the Michigan Oral Health Coalition (MOHC). He is an active member of multiple leadership committees nationally and locally with focus on clinical initiatives. Dr. Syed received a medical degree from Donetsk State Medical University, a Masters in Public Health from Michigan State University, School of Human Medicine and a Fellowship in Community Health Policy and Leadership from George Washington University. He is an avid Spartan sports fan and enjoys following international, college, and professional league sports.
