HGS4 - HGS4 Plenary Session #3: HRSA/Bureau of Primary Health Care Update and Conference Wrap-up

Nov 17, 2020 3:30pm ‐ Nov 17, 2020 5:15pm

Through the Health Center Program, the Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC) funds and supports health centers in underserved communities, providing access to high quality, family oriented, comprehensive primary and preventive health care for people who are low-income, uninsured or face other obstacles to receiving health care. Over its more than 55 year history, the Health Center Program has grown from two health centers to nearly 1,400 health centers, serving 1 in 11 people in the United States at approximately 13,000 sites in every U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Pacific Basin. Throughout the pandemic, health centers have played an important role in providing testing and care for those affected by COVID-19, while continuing to provide quality primary health care services for the nation’s underserved. This session will provide updates on BPHC's programmatic operations, overall strategic direction, and COVID-19 impacts and efforts.
