Integrating Buprenorphine Therapy for Opioid Use Disorder into Health Centers

Integrating Buprenorphine Therapy for Opioid Use Disorder into Health Centers

Publication Date: August 31, 2016

Description

Opioid dependence and abuse have increasingly become public health crises in many communities across the country. Communities are challenged to manage the impact: poor health outcomes, increased violence, and spread of communicable diseases such as HIV, Hepatitis C, and other sexually transmitted diseases. Health centers can play a role by providing office-based buprenorphine therapy for patients with opioid use disorder.
