Dr. Ukachi Emeruwa is a first-generation Nigerian-American native of Southern California. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a certificate in Global Health and Health Policy from Princeton University, graduated medical school from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, and earned a Master of Public Health in Health and Social Behavior with a focus in Maternal and Child Health from the T.H. Chan Harvard School of Public Health. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Massachusetts General Hospital Integrated Residency Program at Harvard and completed her Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She is now an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences and Maternal-Fetal Medicine Clinical Faculty at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine, where she was recruited to be a Women’s Reproductive Health Research Scholar. Her research focuses on hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, and specifically improving understanding and reducing disparities in postpartum hypertension through clinical trials and community-level effectiveness-implementation studies.
