Alyssa Puia

Alyssa Puia is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island where she earned her Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree as well as a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Spanish Language. After graduation, she completed a PGY1 residency at the Holyoke Health Center (HHC) in Massachusetts before joining the team as a clinical pharmacist. In her current position, Alyssa provides direct patient care via collaborative practice agreement with prescriptive authority for type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and tobacco cessation. Administratively, she oversees HHC’s pharmacist-led immunization services and related grant projects in conjunction with NACHC and other partners. Alyssa has also served as a consultant for the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) and Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS.) She is passionate about the roles clinical pharmacists can fill within community health centers and is an incoming member of NACHC’s Clinical Practice Committee and Subcommittee on Pharmacy Policy. She hopes to inspire the next generation of pharmacists to work with underserved patients and is a preceptor for pharmacy students and residents.
