Tips for Boards on Health Center Workforce Challenges and Opportunities

Workforce retention, recruitment, and development are strategic issues in healthcare. While a health center’s CEO and their staff manage workforce items on a day-to-day basis, a health center board should be aware of the workforce challenges and opportunities at the health center. This article provides tips that a board can consider in partnership with the CEO to help address these items through board-level functions, including strategic planning, budget approval, policy approval, and other forms of oversight and board development.
