This recording is from NACHC's April 14, 2022 all-virtual Veterans Interest Group Office Hour. The agenda includes national Veteran program and policy updates and a preview of some Veterans-related technical assistance products.
The Veterans Interest Group began over five years ago as an informal meeting at NACHC conferences, specifically the Policy and Issues forum in Washington DC, where there was access to officials from the US Department of Veterans Affairs. The group then began meeting at the NACHC’s summer Community Health Institute where they provided an educational session on Veterans-related topics such as employing Veterans at health centers or understanding the complexities for health centers seeking to become VA-approved community providers through what was then called the Choice Program and has evolved into the Community Care Network. Since the onset of the pandemic in 2020, the Veterans Interest Group has sustained momentum through newsletter of updates from NACHC several times a year as well as through national education webinars on topics like screening for Veterans status and developing Veterans liaison positions in health centers.
